Judgment to Release in Americas and Europe on June 25

Late last night, Sega announced that Judgment will be released in the Americas and throughout Europe on June 25. This reveal came last night via Twitter along with a few additional details about a pre-order bonus.

Fans of the Yakuza games will want to keep an eye on this one. Why's that? Because it's set in the same world as the Yakuza franchise, made by the same developers, and contains some of the same gameplay elements. However, this is not a Yakuza game, it's merely a spin-off.

You play as detective Takayuki Yagami who is investigating a serial murder case...

Yakuza Kiwami Launches on PC via Steam February 19

The Steam page for Yakuza Kiwami went up a long while back and the wait, at least for some users, has been a bit unbearable. Thankfully, development of the PC release has seemingly wrapped up because a release date was finally revealed and it is February 19, 2019.

For $19.99, you too can experience the ending of the beginning of the franchise, since Kiwami picks up after the events that began the beginning in Yakuza 0, which came out on PC a few months ago.

We have reviews up here at Total Gaming Network for both Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. Sure, these reviews...

    Review: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PS4)

The best Yakuza game to date.
Since January of 2017, I've had the good fortune to be able to review every Yakuza release that has come out on the PlayStation 4. It started with Yakuza 0, followed by Yakuza Kiwami, and then Yakuza 6 just a few months back. I have seen the beginning and the emotional end to this franchise. I have played it across two different game engines. Every entry has offered up something new and unique to experience while still maintaining a certain alluring appeal that kept me hooked through dozens upon dozens of gameplay hours.

Fast-forward slightly and we arrive here at the present day with the Western release of Yakuza Kiwami 2, a remake of the 2006 PlayStation 2 game, Yakuza 2. It runs on the all-new Dragon Engine that we first saw with Yakuza 6. It also adds on a heaping helping of additional story content on top of the original title. It also somehow manages...

Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami Coming to PC

Speaking of the Yakuza developers, it was announced this week that both Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami are coming to the PC. This announcement sure came out of nowhere, that's for sure.

First up looks to be Yakuza 0, which you can pre-purchase right now on Steam for $17.99 (USD) with a 10% discount. This one will be released on August 1, 2018. As you may recall, I kind of really loved Yakuza 0. I'm sure I'll love it even more with an uncapped framerate and the option to go up to 4K... on my 1080p monitor.

Yakuza Kiwami is also headed to Steam. You are not yet able to pre-purchase Kiwami nor is there a...

Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remasters Coming to PlayStation 4

Early this morning confirmations came out that Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 will all be given the remaster treatment and released on the PlayStation 4. Yakuza 3 will be released on August 9 alongside a code to download the soundtrack. Yakuza 4 will arrive later this Fall. Yakuza 5 will be released in Spring 2019. Now it's important to note here that all of these release dates are just for Japan along with the rest of Asia. Alongside the Japanese voice work, it will include Chinese and Korean localizations. With any luck, Sega will bring all of them to the West in a timely fashion. Given that these are all remasters, a lot of the translation heavy l...

    Gambling in Video Games

When we talk about the idea of gambling in video games, the first thing that may spring to mind are the onslaught of "loot boxes" that have become prevalent over the past half of a decade. While those are always a hot topic of conversation amongst gamers, critics, publishers, and even law makers, those aren't what we're here to bring attention to today. No, instead we're going to take a look at things like actual casinos within a variety of your favorite games. From slot machines to blackjack, games of skill and a bit of luck have been featured throughout gaming's long history. Casinos online are one thing, but they aren't exactly for the young gamers out there. Though...

Review: Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (PS4)

How far would you go for family?
For the past year now, the Yakuza series has been burning brightly on the PlayStation 4. We had the fantastic Yakuza 0 make its way to Western audiences early in 2017, followed up by the ever so slightly inferior but still amazing Yakuza Kiwami a few months later. Despite these games existing for more than a decade across three different console generations, these PS4 releases are the first time many of us have ever gotten to experience the amazing character of Kazuma Kiryu and his world. And now in early 2018 we have the release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the final chapter in old man Kiryu's tale. Cast any worries you have aside because Sega says farewell to Kazuma "The Dragon of Dojima" Kiryu in grand fashion. The biggest draw of the Yakuza games has been and will always continue to be the fantastic storylines; these include the storylines contained in the bite-sized sub-mission...

    Review: Yakuza Kiwami (PS4)

    Do It For Her.

Yakuza Kiwami is an updated remake of the original Yakuza title, a game that was originally released back in 2006 in North America for the PlayStation 2. Right out of the gate, Kiwami can and should be considered more than just a simple remake. It feels more like an extension of the fantastic Yakuza 0 that came to North America earlier this year and less like a game that came out nearly ten years ago. Yakuza Kiwami delivers updated assets, visuals, and even completely redone Japanese voice work. Sorry, there are no English dubs here, which is for the best. The amount of work that went into bringing Yakuza Kiwami from the PlayStation 2 to the PlayStation 4 is nothing short of extraordinary. The story throughout Yakuza Kiwami may not flow as elegantly as Yakuza 0 but it still does a tremendous job of conveying themes of betrayal, trust, and family throughout its 15+ hou...

Yakuza Kiwami Release Date Set for August 29

Sega just announced the release date for Yakuza Kiwami in the West. That date is none other than August 29, 2017. For those of you who don't know, Yakuza Kiwami is the "extreme" HD remake of the first Yakuza game, the one that originally came out on the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. Yakuza Kiwami will feature "completely recreated graphics and fully re-recorded Japanese audio by the original voice actors." It also features about 30 minutes of new cutscenes. The game will have both a physical and digital release priced at $29.99 (USD). Those that pre-order early enough will get a free SteelBook packaging for the retail release. ...

Yakuza 0 Now Available for PlayStation 4

In case you hadn't heard, Yakuza 0 is now available on the PlayStation 4 both in stores and via the PlayStation Network.
Yakuza 0 tells the origin stories of Kazuma Kiryu, the rising Dragon of Dojima, and Goro Majima, before he's known as the Mad Dog of Shimano, as they fight, hustle, flirt, and dance their way through the seedy underbelly of Japan. Taking place in a chilly but electric Kamurocho, Tokyo in December 1988, Kiryu's story follows his steady ascension up the ranks of the Dojima yakuza crime family until he gets blamed for a debt collection gone wrong. Kiryu must utilize his cunning and his fists in order to regain his honor and save the reputation
