Though the 2019 Steam Award winners are yet to be announced (December 31 at 10AM PT), that didn't stop Valve from sharing what some of 2019's best games were. Valve put together a look at "The Best of 2019" as told through Steam's top-sellers, the most played on Steam, and what some of the best new releases were throughout the year.

Valve broke down the games into five different categories that include: For instance, did you know that games like Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine, and Gorn sold enough on Steam in 2019 to be considered "Platinum"-tier sellers on the platform? It's true! Another Platinum seller was VR Kanojo, a game where you "hang out" with the "girl-next door." This game has an 18+ patch outside of Steam. Now you probably have some idea about why it's a Platinum seller. Hey, moving on!

2019 saw a lot of big games have a lot of big simultaneous player counts. These games include the likes of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Destiny 2, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. All of these games, and more, had more than 100,000 people playing at the same time. That's pretty nice to see Halo on there, especially since only Halo: Reach is available for the PC release at present. 343 Industries and Microsoft hope to get the rest of the games out by the end of 2020. Keep those fingers crossed!

Overall in 2019, some of the top sellers saw a mix of new and old releases. Grand Theft Auto V is still selling like there's no tomorrow. Newcomer Total War: Three Kingdoms took off like a freaking rocket after its release this past May. PUBG is still also doing quite well for itself, seemingly doing better in these past two months than in any other time in 2019.

You can see these games, and TONS more by checking out any of the categories listed above. Looks like most of the games listed are on sale in some capacity as part of Steam's Winter Sale 2019.
