Cursed Legacy is the next chapter of content for Dead by Daylight and it was just released today. This add-on will unlock a new killer, Yamaoka Kazan, an exclusive cosmetic for a new survivor, Kimura Yui, and a new map called Sanctum of Wrath.
Apparently this Cursed Legacy chapter is "closely linked" to the previous chapter, Shattered Bloodline. This was a chapter that was released in 2018. For those of you paying close attention to that deep Dead by Daylight lore, this is probably some exciting stuff. Everyone else is probably surprised to hear that there's any sort of actual cohesive story in this game.
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer game. One person plays as one of many different killers (some famous, some not). Their objective is to go after a handful of other players that are trying to escape the arena before they're killed. They usually do this by activating generators and opening up some gates while trying to avoid the murderer.
The Cursed Legacy content is going for $6.99 (USD) on Steam. I assume this is the going rate for the DLC across all other platforms where Dead by Daylight is available.
At the time, players were exploring the tale of the Spirit, Yamaoka Rin, a young girl murdered by her father. The new add-on tells the story of her ancestor, Yamaoka Kazan, a Samurai whose wrath ended up drawing the Entity’s attention.
Heir to a famous Japanese swordsmanship school, he sought to surpass his reputation as a warrior by turning his back on honour and family and embarking on a dark pilgrimage of bloodlust. As he waged his personal war against self-proclaimed samurais, he was bestowed with the derogatory and despised nickname of Oni-Yamaoka, a reference to the hideous creature of legend. One day, he met his fate as his former victims took revenge on him. It drew the Entity’s attention and he was deemed worthy of joining its world.

Breaking with tradition and against her parents’ wishes, she left her home to pursue her dreams and led a gang helping women in troubled situations. Until she found herself shanghaied into another endless race where crossing the finish line is a matter of life and death.
