Nintendo Announced Pokemon Sword and Shield for Switch
Worry not Pokemon Trainers, I didn't forget about your news today! I almost did, but that's besides the point.
Earlier today Nintendo announced Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, both for the Nintendo Switch. These games officially kick off generation eight for the long-running and still very popular franchise. These two games will be released this Fall and are (apparently) the first mainline titles to appear on a home console. Though I suppose you could technically spin it to say that the Switch is still a portable, but I'm not about to dive into that rabbit hole.
Nintendo revealed the new games with a trailer that showed off the three starters. They are Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Sword and Moon features 3D cel-shaded visuals. Players will get to explore a new region called Galar as they set out on their adventures.
The last mainline entries for Pokemon came about in 2016 with Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon for the Nintendo 3DS.
