Ubisoft seems to be doing quite well for itself these days, this week in particular has been a good one for the studio. The latest word is that they are opening up new studios in Mumbai, India and Odesa, Ukraine. The Mumbai studio will report to Jean-Philippe Pieuchot from the Pune Studio. Together with Pune, Mumbai will work on major Ubisoft franchises such as South Park, Just Dance, Far Cry, and more.

In a comment to GamesIndustry.biz, Pieuchot said taht Mumbai was selected due to its "unique talent pool and large population." The Mumbai studio will open in June and will employ 100 people. The Pune location currently employs 750 people. Ubisoft Mumbai will collaborate with the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai and Intuit Lab. Ubisoft will support the Indian Institute of Technology's machine learning and AI programs. Ubisoft will help to develop a four-year game design curriculum at the art focused Intuit Lab.

Ubisoft's new Odesa, Ukraine location will eventually have 70 people on board. Ubisoft Kiev's Adrian Serbanescu will manage the new location in Odesa. This studio will focus on the Ghost Recon franchise.
Joining the roster of Eastern European studios in Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia, Ubisoft Odesa looks to tap into the strong pool of creative and technical talent in Ukraine. "Odesa has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular tech professionals. We're always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills, and expertise to create the very best games, and Odesa's reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match," said Sébastien Delen, Managing Director for Eastern European Hub Studios (Romania, Ukraine, and Serbia), Ubisoft. The small team has ambitious plans to expand, and is looking to fill their ranks with C++ programmers, producers, DevOps specialists, and DevTesters. They are currently accepting CVs.
