  • Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Launch Trailer

The prequel is a day away.

The launch trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy premiered during gamescom this week. Shown during Opening Night Live, the launch trailer gives a small taste of what fans can expect from this more action-focused prequel to the Plague Tale series.

Initial reviews for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy are in. Resonance's 83% on OpenCritic seems to place it almost perfectly in line with both A Plague Tale: Innocence (82%) and its sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem (83%).

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is out on August 27 for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC. The trailer is set to a "striking reinterpretation of Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the Silence'." This prequel is said to offer "a darker journey" for the franchise, which is a rather bold claim to make given what happens in the other two titles.

A darker journey into the world of A Plague Tale

Combining dynamic melee combat, exploration, environmental puzzles and narrative-driven adventure, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy offers a new perspective on the beloved universe created by Asobo Studio.

Players will uncover Sophia's origins while exploring a parallel story set during the Minoan era, revealing long-buried secrets connected to the island and shedding new light on the origins of the Macula itself. From breathtaking coastal landscapes to forgotten labyrinths hidden beneath the earth, the game delivers an emotional and intense adventure where every discovery brings Sophia one step closer to the truth... and one step closer to the darkness waiting for her.

"This project has also been a special journey for our team, giving us the opportunity to explore a new perspective on the universe we created,” said David Dedeine, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Asobo Studio. “From the writing and gameplay to the music and environments, Sophia's journey resonates with our own; it hasn't been without its challenges, but we put our whole hearts into it.”
