According to a Tweet by Nintendo from earlier today, the Nintendo Switch has become the "fastest selling video game system of all time" in the United States. Additional details provided by Nintendo say that in the period from March 3 through December 31, 2017, Nintendo sold 4.8 million Switch units. That figure is just for the States. Total worldwide sales figures were not revealed today.

To compare, the incredibly well received Wii sold just 4 million units in the same span of time. The Wii was the previous king of "fastest selling console." Keep in mind that the Wii went on to become one of the best selling consoles of all time, selling over 101 million units around the world.

In addition, we found out today that over 60% of all Switch owners own Super Mario Odyssey. Over 55% of all Switch owners own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 see attach rates of at least 50% and 20% respectively.

I'm not quite sure yet, but I get the feeling that the Nintendo Switch is a pretty hot item right now. Call it a wild and crazy guess, but I can just feel it.
