Ubisoft delayed three games today, though you'll only really care about two of them. The company announced delays for Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and then dropped a bombshell by saying that an "unannounced franchise game" has also been pushed back.

Far Cry 5 makes the move from February 27, 2018 to a March 27, 2018 release. Ubisoft says that the "extra time will allow the team at Ubisoft Montreal to make some additional improvements that will bring the best, most ambitious Far Cry experience in line with the team's original vision."

The Crew 2 is moving from March 16, 2018 to some time between April and September. Their own announcement includes a quick word about why this game was delayed.

This "unannounced franchise game" went from a planned FY 2018-2019 release to FY 2019-2020 release. Good God, it's still 2017 and we're already talking about games that might not be out until 2020. So, what was it?The Division 2? Maybe Watch Dogs 3? What're we thinking it was?

It seems as though a big reason for these delays is due to the success of Assassin's Creed Origins. They note that stepping back from the yearly development really helped the game's quality and thus helped it to be a commercial success.

Of course, those gaming skeptics out there are making sure to have their voices heard. They're saying that Ubisoft has simply seen what has happened to EA with the Battlefront 2 loot box backlash and they're retooling some systems to remove or minimize the loot boxes in their own games. Something something gamer scorned, something.
