Update on September 26, 2017: It looks as though someone working in the Koei Tecmo customer service department had some bad information.

The game is now released and it looks as though that "720p" assets and internal resolution was a big load of nothing.

Multiple users, including Raul DJ on the Steam forums, posted comparison screenshots of the PC version of the game with the PlayStation 4 version. The comparisons show little to no resolution issues with the PC release and are often times a bit clearer than their PS4 counter-parts.

We certainly apologize for passing along what evidently turned out to be false information. At that time, that information, which came from official developer sources, was the only information we had. Oh damn it, are we #fakenews now?

Original: Koei Tecmo is making a PC port of Blue Reflection. The only thing I know about the game comes from the description of the game on Steam, but that's not really why we're here. We're here to inform you that Koei Tecmo is locking the assets and internal resolution of the game to 720p for the PC.

This confirmation comes today from Koei Tecmo in a response made to a customer inquiry. The response was posted to the Steam Community discussion section for the game, but has since been edited by the thread starter.

The original response read:
Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We prepare 2D images basically on the resolution of 1280*720 for BLUE REFLECTION Steam version, meanwhile 1920*1080 for PS4 version.
Therefore, if you play in the environment where the resolution is larger than 1280*720, the images are shown as stretched. We hope you will accept this.
We will consider conforming 2D images to a larger resolution, but cannot promise. We trust that you will understand our position in this matter.

We would like to close our correspondence for your inquiry.

So, they have 1080p assets and rendering for the upcoming North American PlayStation 4 release (out this past March in Japan) but the PC release is getting 720p internal resolution? How in the world does something like this happen and who thought that this would ever fly? It is important to note that this game did come out for the Japanese PlayStation Vita in March as well. Did they port over that version of the game instead of the PlayStation 4 version? It certainly seems like a possibility.
