The rumors were true, Microsoft is indeed working on hardware upgrades for the Xbox brand. No, I'm not talking about the Xbox One S, I'm talking about Project Scorpio. Phil Spencer is calling it "possibly the most powerful console ever built."

Pricing and the exact design of Project Scorpio were not revealed. What was revealed is that it will feature a GPU capable of roughly 6 TFLops of processing power, an 8-core CPU, 320GB/s memory bandwidth, and capable of 4K gaming, capable of VR gaming, and will be backwards compatible with the existing Xbox One software.

Project Scorpio, or whatever it may eventually be called, is expected to be released in late 2017.
