A live-action Tomb Raider series is in the works according to a reveal by actor and director Stephen Lunsford on Instagram. The now removed post said that the series that is in the works will serve as a prequel to the next game and the next Tomb Raider film.
"I'm happy to announce that I will be creating a Tomb Raider mini-series to be released with Rise of The Tomb Raider. This will act as a prequel to the game and eventual movie. We are currently in pre-production and working hard to make sure this becomes the best live-action iteration of Lara Croft yet. Thank you to Crystal Dynamics for all of your support in this fan production and I can't wait to make this a reality."

Lunsford actually worked with the Tomb Raider IP in the past. He wrote and directed a series of TV ads for the 2013 Tomb Raider title called Tomb Raider Facts. Just as the upcoming sequel is a timed exclusive on the Xbox One, there is no word on if the mini-series will be exclusively released on any particular platform.

An example of one of those Tomb Raider Fact videos can be seen below.
