First of all, I wasn't aware that a Dead Rising film was even a thing. If I did know about it, I've obviously forgotten about it by now. Secondly, comedian and actor Rob Riggle is being brought on to play Frank West in the film.

You may recognize Riggle from his appearances as a Daily Show correspondent and for his roles in The Other Guys and 21 Jump Street, to name a few. So, what about this film then?
Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story's narrative.

Riggle has actually covered wars, you know. Seriously! He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and has served in Afghanistan, Liberia, and Kosovo.

THe film will not be released in theaters. Instead, it will be released initially through Sony's Crackle service. It's being written by Tim Carter who is perhaps best known for writing for Sleeping Dogs and the Mortal Kombat: Legacy TV series.
