Microsoft is allegedly in talks with various publishers about increasing the performance of Xbox One consoles that will not come bundled with a Kinect. Microsoft executive, Yusuf Mehdi, said that the topic was being discussed.
"We are in discussions with our game publishers about what we might do in this space and we will have more to talk about soon," he said.

If true, that would give an extra 10% of power to the Xbox One that is typically reserved for the Kinect and various Kinect features. However, in doing this, Microsoft may very well drive a divide between those who have the Kinect and those who do not. It's essentially a fragmentation of their market and one that will surely upset those who have a Kinect and were "forced" into buying a Kinect bundled SKU due to Microsoft constantly insisting that it would never be removed.
