Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form

This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.

Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

SteamVR Desktop Theater Mode Enters Early Beta

Valve announced today that the SteamVR Desktop Theater Mode is now in an early beta phase. They say that this will be "showcased at next week's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco." What is Desktop Theater Mode? It's a mode that allows VR users to play non-VR games with their VR hardware still on. It doesn't magically turn your non-VR ready games into 3D experiences. It instead probably projects a flat virtual screen or monitor that you can view as if it were a real world screen or monitor ...

Valve Announces 'The Lab' for VR Experiments at GDC

If you will be attending GDC next week in San Francisco, you may want to set aside some time to check out what Valve will be doing. The studio announced that they will debut something called "The Lab," which is a compilation of a number of VR experiments that visitors can try out. The Lab is "set in a pocket universe of Aperture Science" and "offers multiple ways to enjoy room-scale VR." It's probably almost a 100% guarantee that the VR hardware on display for these demos will be the HTC V...

  • Gabe Newell Responds to Terrible Dota 2 Shanghai Major - Calls James Harding an Ass, Fires Production Company

Apparently, the Dota 2 Shanghai Major is kind of a shitshow. There are apparently problems with players getting the appropriate hardware, there are problems with being unable to watch the matches, and the list goes on.

It apparently got so bad that Gabe Newell took to the Dota 2 subreddit to reveal that someone named James is an ass and that they're firing the production company.

  • PSA: Source Engine Security Warning, Loophole Spoofs SteamIDs Grants File Write Permissions on Client Machines

The user claims that he found a way to not only spoof Steam IDs, but he also found a way that would allow malicious server admins to "(write) files on every client." To put it blun...

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
