Valve is back.
Half-Life Alyx

It's been over 12 years. 12 years since the last Half-Life game was released. While it may not be Half-Life 3, Valve did today reveal Half-Life Alyx to the world. This is a new VR title for the PC that is set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

Valve is straight up calling this a "full-length" game that just happens to require a VR device to experience. Pre-orders are available now, months ahead of the game's currently planned release in March 2020. A pre-order discount brings the $59.99 (USD) price down to $53.99. Of course, you can pre-order it right now through Steam. In addition, this is not exclusive to the Valve Index, but is compatible with all PC-based VR headsets. This includes the Vive, Rift, and even Windows Mixed Reality.

As a little bonus for Valve Index owners, this game is yours for free. Many Index users have already reported seeing the game show up in placeholder format in their Steam lists.

In Half-Life Alyx you play as Alyx and experience everything she went through with her father, Eli Vance, as they secretly form a resistance to The Combine. The game was built from the ground up for VR while still retaining the "hallmarks of a classic Half-Life game." This includes world exploration, solving puzzles, visceral combat, and "an intricately woven story that connects it all with the characters iconic to the Half-Life universe."

Half-Life: Alyx is powered by SteamVR on Valve’s Source 2 engine, and can be played on Steam with all PC-based VR headsets.
