A source close to PC Gamer has informed them that Valve's Steam Controller will be released in either October or November of 2014. This claim comes from a "trusted hardware source with knowledge of Valve's Steam Machines."

Their source continued on to say that the completion of the controller would be the "final piece that would precede the availability of most Steam Machines." That seems to indicate that the Steam Machines themselves would then start to roll out at the end of 2014. Finally, the source also said that they expect "about 500" games to be natively playable on SteamOS by the end of the year. Right now, that count sits at 382.
