Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

900 People Laid Off Across Multiple PlayStation Studios

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Embracer Lays Off 97 Employees from Eidos; Cancels New Deus Ex

Embracer's rampage continues.

Call of Duty 'Partners' Played the New Call of Duty and You Didn't

A private event was held today wherein a number of college football players and various "Call of Duty Partners" got to play the new Call of Duty title. Charlie Intel gathered up a bunch of these social media postings from all these #CallofDutyPartners on Twitter and Instagram. You can see a few of the tweets embedded below.

Really, that's kind of all there is to pull from today's event. Nobody has spilled any beans and I'm sure all of these people are under a strict...

    Call of Duty: Mobile Announced

Call of Duty: Mobile was announced today. Take your favorite maps, modes, and characters with you in the palm of your hand from across the various Call of Duty stories. The game is being developed by Tencent's studio, Timi. It's coming for both Android and iOS and will also include multiple game modes when released.

It will be published by Activision, obviously. It will be a free-to-play title at release. I'm assuming that the game will contain in-app purchases. I would be absolutely...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered Rated in Europe

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was apparently just been given a rating by the Pan European Game Information board (PEGI). This specific rating is for the PlayStation 4. And yes, that is the actual title that is given.

So far, nothing about this has been announced by Activision yet. Hell, nothing about this year's Call of Duty release has been revealed at all yet.

I just can't help but feel incredibly indifferent about this if the Modern Warfare...

From today (January 17) through to January 23, players on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One can download and play the Blackout game type from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. As a quick reminder, Blackout is the battle royale mode that was introduced this year to the Call of Duty franchise.

Operation Absolute Zero Live for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PS4

PlayStation 4 owners with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 can now download and play Operation Absolute Zero. This is, so far, the biggest content drop for Black Ops 4 since the game was released. Xbox One and PC players will have to wait until December 18 to play this new content because timed exclusives are stupid but it is what it is.

Charlie INTEL has a very nice rundown of the changes included in today's big updates.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Sales Surpasses $500 Million in Three Days

The lack of a single player campaign sure as hell doesn't seem to matter to most of the gaming world, as evident by the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has pulled in over $500 million (USD) in worldwide sales just over its launch weekend.

To put it perspective, that is about the same amount that Call of Duty: WWII pulled in last year. However, it is down ever so slightly from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that pulled in over $550 million in its first three days.

Blackout Bumps Player Count in Duos from 88 to 100

Yesterday's update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 includes some changes to the Blackout battle royale mode. Those playing Duos will notice that the player count has now hit 100 players, while those playing in Quads are up to 88 players.

PC players can specifically thank Beenox for fixing a number of crashes, improving stability, and just generally tweaking the hell out of the gameplay for the better. You can see the full list of changes below courtesy of Reddit.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Breaks Sales Records for Activision

Activision announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was set a new launch day sales record. According to the publisher, Black Ops 4 is the "biggest one day digital release" in their history.

This naturally broke the previous record set by 2017's Call of Duty: WWII. Black Ops 4 also set records on the PlayStation for most day one digital full game sales through the PlayStation Store. It was also the best-selling Activision Xbox One digital game on day one. Though this was...

Secret Maps Showed Off Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Launch Trailer

The launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 came out today. I mean, the game is out on October 12, 2018 so having a launch trailer now isn't exactly out of the ordinary. It's a launch trailer. It shows off some scenes of action, it has some voice over work, and the like. Since Black Ops 4 doesn't have a single player campaign, you really don't have to worry about seeing any spoilers here, so that's a plus, right? However, there are still some secrets hidden in the trailer. ...

Activision and Treyarch released a new gameplay focused trailer today for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Specifically, this video focuses on the Blackout battle royale coming with the game.

As you may recall, yesterday we saw what the full Blackout map looks like. It seems as though this is all leading up nicely to the Blackout beta that begins on Monday, September 10 on the PS4. This is the Full Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 'Blackout' Map

Charlie INTEL has pieced together the full battle royale map that will be used for the Blackout mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. I say "pieced together" because Activision and Treyarch were sending out direct messages to a number of Call of Duty communities with small sections of the overall map. Those communities then shared the media they were sent with the world, typically through Twitter posts. It took a bit of time, but it looks like all of the pieces finally fell into place. Thi...

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Battle Royale Mode Starts at 80 Players and Includes Zombies

Some details about Blackout, the battle royale mode coming with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 are starting to come out this week courtesy of the October issue of Game Informer. So far some of the highlights include word that the beta will support 80 players though the final version is looking to target 100 players. They have already done internal tests with 100 players. Well, color me surprised. If they can pull it off, I will be genuinely impressed since the Call of Duty multiplayer games aren'...
