  • Sony Decides Not to Sell Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PlayStation Store in Russia

(Insert the same "No Russian" joke every other website is using)

Sony has made the decision not to sell Call of Duty: Modern Warfare through the PlayStation Store in Russia. This is according to a statement issued by Sony Russia today via Twitter. The statement was then confirmed later by the Call of Duty Russia Twitter account.

The publisher says that while the game will no longer be sold on the PlayStation Store, it will still be available to purchase digitally for PC via Battle.net and Xbox. The full statement from Activision, as...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Does Away with Prestige Levels

    New progression system details revealed.

A new blog focused on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare went up today that talks about the progression changes that were made for this year's release. First off, there are no more Prestige levels. Players will be able to earn 55 base levels and 100 additional Officer Ranks in each season of play.

This news comes hot on the heels of word that Modern Warfare is doing away with paid map packs and loot boxes.

Each weapon now also has 100 earnable camo patterns and an average of 50 attachments. You...

Call of Duty Ditches Season Pass, Paid Maps, and Loot Boxes

Activision adopting a new approach to monetization with Modern Warfare.

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25, a new era of monetization for the franchise will also begin. Activision plans to change how they approach things like the in-game economy and real-money microtransactions.

An official blog post by the publisher highlights some of these planned changes. In short, the current plan is to do away with things like Season Passes and paid DLC map packs. It's also apparently doing away with paid loot boxes. This all sounds...

Sony Now Fully Supports Cross-play for PlayStation 4

The company quietly moved PS4 cross-play out of beta.

You are probably about to see more and more multiplayer focused multi-platform games add support for cross-play soon. Just today, we saw that PUBG added in cross-platform play between Xbox and PlayStation users. Even the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare test included some cross-play support. With these new changes, Modern Warfare may be the first game to actually ship with cross-play functionality right out of the box.

This move by Sony now means that the decision to support cross-platform...

  • Call of Duty Devs Won't Admit 'Modern Warfare' is Political

Call of Duty Devs Won't Admit 'Modern Warfare' is Political

Devs continue to be too cowardly to admit all games are political.

In a couple of interviews conducted between Game Informer and developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward, we once again see that devs are just too afraid to admit that yes, their games are indeed political.

Given that nearly every single game is political in some way, this seems like a rather perplexing stance to take. It's even more so when we're talking about a game that has "war" in the title, takes place in Syria, places you in the shoes of armed...

  • Modern Warfare Multiplayer to Feature Game Mode with Over 100 Players

Plus, new details about crossplay, the season pass, and more.

Infinity Ward revealed today that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature a 100-player Ground War mode for its launch in October. I have to imagine that some people at DICE and EA are paying a bit more attention to the franchise knowing that this is a thing that is very real and very much coming soon.

The reveal of the game's multiplayer says that there will be quick, close-quarter 2v2 experiences with the Gunfight game mode. Traditional 6v6 multiplayer modes will still exist in...

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Revealed - Crossplay, New Engine, October Release, No Season Pass

Third time's the charm for Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has just been officially announced and revealed for the third-ish time in the history of the world. There is a soft reboot of the Modern Warfare story for the Call of Duty franchise and should not be confused with the original release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered in 2016.

This Modern Warfare is slated to be released on October 25, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PC release will once again be sold through...
