Two separate sources have independently confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is indeed real. Both of these sources have also said that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is only the single player component from the original game.

Sources have supplied this information to Charlie Intel and (presumably) other sources have separately supplied this information to Eurogamer. That's two sites and probably two sources that are making this claim. It may also explain why an Amazon Italy listing for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered had it showing up as just €20 (or about $25 USD).

This Amazon Italy listing was for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game and pointed towards an April 30 release date. The $25 price is also well below the asking price that Activision put on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered when they said that they were "listening" and released it separate from Infinite Warfare for $40.

At least Raven Software is working on Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, right? Wrong. It appears as though Raven Software has nothing to do with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. Right now, signs are pointing to Beenox as the team behind this update. They assisted Raven Software in working on Modern Warfare Remastered.

To reiterate: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is almost 100% a real thing and doesn't include multiplayer. Why even bother then? I say this as one of the few people that plays the Call of Duty games just to see how stupid the story is with multiplayer being a "sure, whatever, I guess I'll try it for a little bit." The multiplayer is what fans wanted from Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. I suppose that if nothing else, we might end up seeing the Remastered take on "No Russian" when it shows up on the news after another idiot blames gun violence on video games.

Currently, Activision has not even officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. If the late April release ends up being legitimate, there will probably be something coming very shortly about it.
