For the first time in the history of the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will allow you to fully customize the character you play as. This includes the abilities you unlock in addition to changing your character's appearance and gender.
Yes, you can now play as a female lead in a Call of Duty game. According to Treyarch's Studio Head, Mark Lamia, this isn't just a matter of placing a female head or using female voice overs with the same animations as the male offering. Oh no, this is a complete package deal here. If you choose to play as a female, it's an entirely different set of animations that will be used for the entire game.
On top of that, they also note that interactions with other characters will differ based on which gender you choose to play as. Both the male option and the female option will be fully voiced throughout the campaign.
