The beta for Battlefield 6 doesn't even start until 4 am (ET) on August 7th, but that hasn't stopped literally tens of thousands of people from launching the game and staring at what is essentially just a menu. IGN reported that one of their employees saw a queue when they launched the beta client on Steam.
IGN's Jesse Gomez booted up the Battlefield 6 Open Beta on Steam. Upon doing so, they were presented with a message saying that the game servers were full. Below that was a notice informing him that he was in queue position of 22,880.
This coincides with what I heard from a buddy on Discord who said he launched the Battlefield 6 beta client and he saw a queue of over 44,000 players. I just launched the game now to grab a screenshot of said queue but either it's gone or it's just not showing up for me for whatever reason. So, enjoy a screenshot of a plain main menu I guess. Looking at the SteamDB charts for the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, there was a peak of almost 25,000 people with the client up and running at one point. They weren't playing anything but they sure had the client running. Also, that queue seems to be how many people are queued up across all platforms, not just Steam and not just PC.
The preload for the beta kicked off a couple of days ago. If you want, you can still preload the beta right now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios say that everyone that registered for the Battlefield Labs testing before July 31st will get access to the closed beta ahead of this weekend's open beta. Just make sure if you plan on playing on Steam that you linked your Steam account to your EA account.
Steam players also won't need to have the EA app installed. There's an EA account login prompt when you launch the beta for the first time. That's all there is.
