Depending on who you listen to and who you believe, either a "skeleton crew" is left working on Battlefield 2042 development, or the entire team at DICE is still working on the game.

Back in April, the idea that there were only a handful of people left working on Battlefield 2042 started to circulate online. When asked how many people were still working on 2042, DICE game designer Frederik Drabert said that "almost everyone" was still working on the game.

Today, this very same debate fired up again. According to Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, DICE only has a "skeleton crew" still working on 2042 development. Grubb says that this skeleton crew is working to "meet the barebones of their obligations." He even described the situation as being an "abandon ship time" at DICE and EA.

"This game is basically down to a skeleton crew. It’s down to like the bare bones and those people are specifically just working on the promised additional seasons that the game needs to meet the requirements of the high-end version that it sold.

"The skeleton crew is working to pump that stuff out the fastest and the cheapest it possibly can.

"They’re doing this to move everyone on to the new Battlefield as fast as possible. The real core crew of Battlefield developers are already working on that."
Shortly after Grubb made these comments, a representative reached out to him to say that his statements are untrue.

"This is untrue. There is a significant team across studios focused on evolving and improving the Battlefield 2042 experience for our players, and at the heart of that is our team at DICE. We are committed to the future of Battlefield 2042 and our areas of focus for the game, based on what we have heard from our players, was laid out in our recent Development Update that you can view here: https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield...pdate-may-2022 "
At this point, it's up to you who you would like to believe on this.

There are four seasons of live service content that were promised for Battlefield 2042 that will be rolled out over the course of around a year. The first season, Zero Hour, will be released on June 9.

Considering how quickly they were able to implement a scoreboard refresh twice (second time for end of round) and voice chat features, I'd say the entire team is definitely supporting Battlefield 2042, and the one map they're releasing will have the gameplay content of 10 maps! And their vast weapon selection will be so diverse and unique, that it'll actually offer more variety than all previous installments COMBINED! I have no doubts about this at all.

Also, have fun now that you've reinstalled it. Enjoy the fruits of their hard-earned labor.

Well, haven't reinstalled it yet. Only thinking about it. Still have plenty of other things to play and it'll probably be a group decision on if we go back to Battlefield since fuck playing that game solo.

Battlefield 2042 Review: A Battlefield in Ruins
    by Shawn Zipay
Battlefield 2042 is a shallow, feature-lacking mess of a game that appeals to neither long-time franchise fans nor newcomers.

The release of Battlefield 2042 on November 19th should have been a joyous occasion for fans of the franchise. Instead, what the world received was a broken mess of a game that has long-standing "legacy" features removed, barren maps, and a tone that was often at odds with itself. Even after receiving three major post-launch updates, there is very...

Helicopters about to be a whole lot more annoying.

If you thought taking down helicopters, especially the stealth choppers, were a pain in the ass before just you wait for Update 5.0.0 to drop for Battlefield 2042.

Update 5.0.0 for Battlefield 2042 will arrive on Wednesday alongside the launch of Season 5 for the game. This (presumably) last season for Battlefield 2042 is set to add a new map, Reclaimed, along with new weapons, gadgets, a 100-tier Battle Pass, quality...
