This past weekend, the Battlefield 1 Twitter account sent out a number of controversial Tweets under the hashtag of #justWWIthings. A couple of examples can be seen above and below.[ATTACH=CONFIG]9191[/ATTACH]
Given the rather somber tone of most of the game's single player, a fact that has been praised in numerous reviews, it comes off as a bit tasteless to go with this sort of Twitter campaign. It took a bit of time, but the Battlefield Twitter account did eventually pull the Tweets. An apology was issued by the official Battlefield account a few hours ago.

On the flip side of the coin, people are arguing that this is a video game. A video game based on WWI that rewards winning by killing using a number of violent methods including gas, fire, bombs, and bullets.
But since it was EA's official Battlefield twitter account it's not so funny anymore :P
I think Jimy is correct and when I see tweets about jokes on 9/11 or a Malaysian plane disappearing or take your pick on a tragedy that have nothing to do with any type of game get tons of likes and up-votes and so on, yet I guess we are all just still very sensitive about The Great War because it happened not long ago and we all remember so well?
I guess games are too violent.
