In honor of the 40th anniversary since the release of the original Dragon Quest game, Square Enix made several new franchise announcements today. First up, Square Enix revealed Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams.

Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams was given a fresh reveal after it "underwent a restart in development under a new structure." Dragon Quest 12 was originally called "The Flames of Fate" but this restart in development turned it into "Beyond Dreams." The logo was also given a refresh as a part of this restart.

Square Enix also shared new trailers and announcements for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, and word about a limited-time event in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow. Square Enix also announced that the recently released Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake sold a combined 4 million copies.
