  • Baldur's Gate 3 Is Not Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

It's apparently not Larian's decision to make.

The door to a possible Switch 2 release of Baldur's Gate 3 was firmly slammed shut today. During a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA), Larian Studios' CEO Swen Vincke says that while Larian "would have loved to" release a Switch 2 port, it just isn't happening.

Early in the day on Friday, January 9th, the team from Larian fielded a bunch of questions from fans through Reddit. One user asked about if it was possible to see a port of Baldur's Gate 3 come to the Nintendo Switch 2. Vincke's response made it clear that it just isn't going to happen.

We would have loved to but it's wasn't our decision to make.
Expanding on this statement was insider NateTheHate. NateTheHate says that while Larian "would love to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to the Switch 2" it won't happen due to the studio's strained relationship with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast.

While Larian would love to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to the Switch 2... their relationship with Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast is not healthy.
This is probably very disappointing for Switch 2 owners to hear. Baldur's Gate 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those who just wanted to have a more portable way to play the game could always play on a Steam Deck if they own one as Baldur's Gate 3 is Steam Deck Verified.

As for Larian, they already revealed what they're working on next. The team is working on a new entry in their Divinity franchise. Vincke was recently under fire for saying that Larian was using generative AI (genAI) to create concept artwork for Divinity. In the same Reddit AMA in which they closed the door on a Switch 2 port, Larian stated that they are no longer using genAI at all in the development process.

Very strange, why wouldn't Hasbro want to release one of the best reviewed and most popular games of recent times on the "fastest selling console of all time"?

The Switch 2, at this point in the life cycle (I thought that in House of the Dead 2 Goldman's voice), is a wasteland. So few exclusives (not on Switch 1), overpriced upgrades, and a very mid racing game as its flagship title. Yeah, this console is gonna need a few more years. (not that PS5 is exciting either mind you)

During and after their big Switch 2 Direct earlier today, Nintendo offered fans some of the first Switch 2 technical details on the upcoming portable console. Given the age of the original Switch hardware, some of these Switch 2 specs are quite substantial when compared to its predecessor.

The Switch 2 will sport a 7.9-inch, 1080p capable, LCD screen. To compare, the Switch 1 has a 6.2-inch screen,...

Crimson Desert Uses GenAI Slop Art Assets Without Any Steam Disclosure
    by Shawn Zipay
And Valve is caught not enforcing their own policies.

Crimson Desert features generative AI (genAI) art assets in the final build of the game that released to everyone just yesterday. While I have yet to see the obvious genAI art assets myself, several examples have already been posted to social media and Reddit across a number of discussion threads.

According to some media outlets, there is "debate" about if the assets were made with generative AI or not....

It was another huge night for Baldur's Gate 3 and Larian Studios. Though the 2023 RPG came up short of sweeping the 11 categories it was nominated in, it still managed to take home four awards at the 2024 BAFTA Games Awards.

One of those awards being the Best Game Award in which it beat out Alan Wake 2, Dave the Diver, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Super...
