Sweet baby Jesus, we are in the worst ever timeline. This week at CES 2026, Razer revealed a new AI desktop companion that they're calling Project AVA. This is a new 3D hologram AI companion that is lightly customizable with a few different "character" designs.
Project AVA features 3D holographic style avatars that were created in a partnership with Animation Inc.. The characters are rendered on a 5.5" holographic display and feature "high-fidelity motion, eye-tracking, and facial expressions to create an engaging, personal interaction." Your avatar options include AVA, which is just a green orb with the Razer logo. There are also avatar options that include "Kira," "Zane," Faker (yes, the esports pro), and "Sao."
Razer says that Project AVA is a "friend for life" that can help you organize your daily life. You can consult with AVA on professional tasks or guide "you to victory in every game." You will need to connect AVA to your PC via USB so that it can make use of "PC Vision Mode" that will "analyze screen content with minimal latency."
The "best" part of Project AVA is the fact that it currently uses xAI's Grok! Grok being the same AI that has praised Hitler and has recently been creating CSAM on Twitter. Yeah, that Grok!
If for some reason you want this sort of device in your life, you can reserve a unit now. The reservations will cost you a $20 deposit, which will be credited towards the final purchase price. A full purchase price was not revealed but like with most things AI, don't expect it to come cheap.
