PC gamers rejoice! Nvidia has heard your fears and worries and have decided to placate you with a GPU that came out five years ago.
In a real "throwing a bone" to the masses sort of move, Nvidia may bring back the RTX 3060 GPU. The card first made its debut in February 2021 and may be coming back for a second round here in early 2026. This is according to hongxing2020, whom Wccftech says has a "solid track record with Nvidia GPU updates and production plans."
The RTX 3060 came in two flavors: Either a 12GB model or an 8GB model. It's not clear if Nvidia plans to bring back both models for this second go or if they'll just stick to one SKU this time. With Nvidia's current focus on AI and datacenters, it's not unreasonable to think that they might just release the 8GB RTX 3060 models because screw you, that's why. Joking aside, it is actually more than likely they'll release just the 12GB model again.
Why the RTX 3060 specifically and not say something newer, like the 40-series? Well, that is a very good question. It could be because the RTX 3060 (at least the 12GB model) uses 192-bit GDDR6 memory while most of the 12GB 40-series cards use the more advanced (and more expensive) GDDR6X memory. Perhaps Nvidia has a bunch of excess of the cheaper GDDR6 memory laying around. It's also possible that they decided not to go with something like the RTX 3060 Ti or even RTX 3070 because those were only released in 8GB configurations.
As Wccftech also points out, the Nvidia RTX 3060 is the top GPU used by most Steam users. At the time of publication, the RTX 3060 is used by 4.07% of all Steam users according to the December 2025 Steam Hardware Survey.
