  • More Layoffs Hit Eidos-Montreal

At least a dozen are confirmed out of a job.

The studio that developed, or assisted in developing, games like Thief, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (plus Mankind Divided), and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is again being hit by layoffs. Eidos-Montreal was hit by an undisclosed number of layoffs over the past, with several now-former employees announcing that they are no longer with the studio.

Gameplay director Samuel Daher said that he "was working at Eidos" and that he "loved it and would have stayed, but times are difficult." According to reporting from Insider Gaming, it's estimated that at least a dozen people were laid off and are now looking for work.

This is now also the second wave of layoffs to hit Eidos Montreal after 75 people were laid off back in March 2025.

Unfortunately, the news only gets worse from there. Insider Gaming says that their sources state that more layoffs are coming. Several projects within Eidos-Montreal have been cancelled. One project, which started development in 2019, reportedly "has no way of recouping its current costs."

Right now, Eidos-Montreal is really only working as a support studio for Microsoft and Xbox on titles such as Grounded 2 and Fable. Apparently "additional staff reductions are already forecast" for Eidos-Montreal as development on these Microsoft titles begins to near their end.
