This week, Nvidia announced that they are about ready to end support for their Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta based GPUs. The GPUs based on these microarchitectures include the entirety of the GeForce 9-Series, the GeForce 10-Series, and a few of Nvidia's Titan cards.
Nvidia says that they are planning a final Game Ready Driver release for these cards in October 2025. After that final Game Ready Driver update, these cards will only receive quarterly security updates for three more years, which would be until October 2028. After that point, there will be no more updates released at all, leaving those still using these cards at risk of whatever new security issues would arise.
Nvidia notes that the support lifetime for these GPUs has reached 11 years, which they say is "well beyond industry norms." The GeForce 9-Series came out in September 2014, with the 10-Series first hitting the market in May 2016.
Windows 10 RTX GPU Support
When it comes to Windows 10 support, Nvidia says that they are extending support for all GeForce RTX GPUs until October 2026. This is a full year of extra support from Nvidia after Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows 10's on October 14, 2025.New 580.88 Driver
