Who is this man sitting on your couch? Where did your dad go?
Simple pink and blue "cartoon" style drawing of a young girl in PJs walking out of her room. The words "and Roger" are shown on the left for the title.

Today, and Roger is "slice-of-life visual novel" that offers up a big mystery. Developed by TearyHand Studio and published by Kodansha Creators' Lab, and Roger is available for just $4.99 on Steam and Switch. Steam users can also make use of a 20% launch discount until Tuesday, August 5th.

You play as a young girl that begins what should otherwise be a pretty typical day. As she heads downstairs for breakfast, she sees a man on her dad's couch. The man greets her. The man is not her father but is sitting in her dad's favorite spot like nothing is awry.

Who is this man? Where did your dad go? As you play, you will find out answers to all of these questions and the "protagonist's bewildering circumstances." The game plays out through a series of interactive events "as life's mundane moments unveil clues to the man's identity."

Why does he look at her like he knows her? Why does he keep talking about taking medicine? As everyday life is turned upside-down, savor a mystifying storyline complemented by high-contrast, hand-drawn cartoon visuals.

“So many players provided positive feedback for and Roger’s demo during Steam Next Fest. I am happy they get to finish the story,” says yona, solo developer of and Roger. “Kodansha has given me the opportunity to use video games as a medium to tell stories near and dear to my heart, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to share more of my work with the world.”
Something tells me this might be a bit of an emotional ride. I haven't played it yet myself, but probably will after this news post goes live.
