CD Projekt Red shares that sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now surpassed 60 million copies sold since its release. The reveal comes as part of the company's latest financial report. It also comes right as the game is celebrating 10 years of availability, having originally been released in May 2015.
CD Projekt Red notes that the 60 million sales figure includes sales of the base game and the GOTY release. The sales figure excludes sales of expansions, which were sold separately. This 60 million figure also places right next to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim as the best selling RPG of all time.
Adam Baddowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, issued a brief statement about this sales milestone for the game.
Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt’s adventures marks a pivotal point in our history. The game earned hundreds of awards and solidified our studio’s standing, but more importantly, it brought untold hours of adventures and emotions to millions of games the world over. I am proud to announce that since its release The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies, securing a place among the bestselling video games in all history, and motivating us to carry on with intensive work on the next trilogy set in this universe.
