  • Rumors Say Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Could Release Either Very Soon or Later

    Leaks are dumb like that.
A man in golden armor staring at the viewer. He is inside of some sort of a fantasy-medieval style room with wooden arches, a wooden chest on the left, a wooden table and chairs, and several windows.

Depending on which leaker you listen to, the alleged remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion could arrive anywhere from April to June. The remake hasn't officially been announced yet, but that announcement could happen within weeks. Maybe.

First, we have word from insider NatetheHate that says a reveal for the Oblivion remaster is arriving in the coming weeks. He continues on to say that he expects that the game will release before June.

Then we have VGC coming in with their own anonymous sources. VGC's source say that the remake could arrive "as soon as next month."

The entire idea behind the Oblivion remake even being a thing came back in 2023 when it was mentioned in court documents filed by Microsoft and mistakenly posted online. These documents were presented as part of the battle between the Federal Trade Commission and Microsoft over Microsoft's planned purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Since that leak by Microsoft, all sorts of possible bits of information have surfaced for this unannounced remake. For instance, the remake is supposedly being handled by Virtuos, a support studio that is also helping on the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta.

The Oblivion remake is also reportedly using Unreal Engine 5, a game engine that has notoriously sucked for open world games. Various gameplay systems have are also reportedly being overhauled in the remake, including: Stamina, sneaking, blocking, archery, hit reaction, and the HUD.
