  • Layoffs Hit Torn Banner Studios and IllFonic

An undisclosed number of employees have been laid off.
Medieval warfare between two warring factions.

We have even more unfortunate news to share today. In addition to this week's layoffs and studio closures at Ubisoft and Sweet Bandits, layoffs have also hit Torn Banner Studios and IllFonic.

Torn Banner Studios is perhaps best known for their work on the two Chivalry titles and their Early Access release of No More Room in Hell 2. Yesterday, a message was shared on LinkedIn by CEO and creative director Steve Piggott stating that the studio had to eliminate some positions.

Today, I want to share some unfortunate news for Torn Banner Studios. We have made the very difficult decision to undergo a restructure and reduce some of our talented workforce.(...)

Employees affected by this restructuring will be receiving severance packages and can keep their work computers. We'll also be working hard to help people find positions at other studios where we can.
Piggott says that Torn Banner remains "fully committed" as they move towards the 1.0 release of No More Room in Hell 2 in 2025.

IllFonic also shared news of layoffs today. A statement from IllFonic's CEO and co-founder Charles Brungardt says that an undisclosed number of cuts were made today.

Today we had to accept the harsh reality that the state of the industry has impacted us here at IllFonic.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that cuts to our team had to be made today as we re-aligned to a refined strategy.

There is a lot of talent in this group and if you or your team is hiring, please reach out so people can be connected to open roles.
IllFonic is the studio that created various asymmetrical multiplayer titles such as Friday the 13th: The Game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and their most recent release of Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.

      Review: Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed
      by Shawn Zipay
A ton of fun with friends.

Off and on for about two weeks now, I and some friends have been hopping into Ghostbusters: Spirits Within, the latest asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer game from IllFonic. Though I would have liked to have gotten this review up a good week ago now, life had other plans. I suppose that just means I’m extra confident in my assessment of the game after spending even more time playing it.

As a little background here, I would consider myself a...
