Layoffs Hit Torn Banner Studios and IllFonic

An undisclosed number of employees have been laid off.

We have even more unfortunate news to share today. In addition to this week's layoffs and studio closures at Ubisoft and Sweet Bandits, layoffs have also hit Torn Banner Studios and IllFonic.

Torn Banner Studios is perhaps best known for their work on the two Chivalry titles and their Early Access release of No More Room in Hell 2. Yesterday, a message was shared on LinkedIn by CEO and creative director Steve Piggott...

The team that aimed to resurrect the asymmetrical multiplayer title received a cease and desist letter from legal representation for Horror, Inc., the owner of the Friday the 13th film franchise.

Friday the 13th to Shut Down Dedicated Servers

    Farewell dedicated servers.

Later on this month, dedicated servers will be "decommissioned" for Friday the 13th: The Game. The patch does not have a set date just yet, but consider this your warning. This comes direct from lead community developer mattshotcha on the official Friday the 13th: The Game forums.

This means that the game will still continue to live on but that there will be only peer-to-peer matchmaking from then on. He goes on to note that this upcoming...

Friday the 13th: The Game Aiming for May 26 Release

Friday the 13th: The Game will forego the obvious release date in favor of a May 26 release on the PC, PS4, and XB1. I suppose it's probably a good thing that they're doing this seeing as how the next Friday the 13th isn't until this October.
