Those who go over will be charged a small fee for more play time.
Nvidia is about to roll out some big changes to their GeForce Now cloud streaming service. Some are good changes, such as a bump to 1440p resolution for lower tiers. Some are disappointing changes, such as the 100 hour monthly limit. The company announced these changes through Reddit earlier this week.
When it comes to the 100 hours of playtime limit per month, Nvidia said that most members will not at all be impacted. First, this change will only impact those on Performance (formerly called Priority) and Ultimate tiers. Those with Founder memberships will not be impacted by this change. The company says that this limit "comfortably accommodates 94% of members." This means that only 6% of all GeForce Now users have ever gone over 100 hours of playtime in a month.
Unused playtime can be rolled over to the following month, but only up to a maximum of 15 hours. Should you go over the 100 hour limit, you will be able to spend $2.99 for another 15 hours on Performance tier, or $5.99 for another 15 hours on the Ultimate tier. These fees will be in addition to the base monthly subscription fees of $9.99 per month and $19.99 for Performance and Ultimate respectively.
The good news here is that anybody with an active membership as of December 31, 2024 will not see the restriction implemented until January 2026. However, any new members signing up starting January 2025 will have to play nice with the new rules.
On the plus side, Nvidia says they are bumping up the Performance tier from 1080p to 1440p. They are also adding ultrawide resolution support for Performance tier members. This was something previously restricted to Ultimate tier members for some reason. Performance and Ultimate members can now also save their in-game graphical settings across streaming sessions, which also apparently wasn't a thing before.
