If you tried to play online with your PlayStation consoles starting roughly around 8:41PM (ET) on October 1, you may have noticed that you couldn't get online. Hell, you probably can't do much of anything online related be it through PlayStation consoles or some services access through a desktop or mobile browser. It seems as though PlayStation Network, all of it, is currently down.
The PSN Service Status page indicates that there are issues across every aspect of PlayStation right now. This includes but is not limited to things like: Multiplayer gaming, social communications, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, and even account management. There does not seem to be any public statement on any of the official PlayStation channels that would indicate an exact timeframe on when services will be restored.
This outage does come at a bit of an unfortunate time for Sony after having a little "oopsie" earlier today with the PlayStation 5 home screen that upset many players.
Update: Sony seems to have restored all PlayStation Network functionality by roughly 4AM (ET) on October 1, 2024. I was sleeping when it came back up, but if you're reading this now it's probably working fine.
