  • Remedy and Annapurna Partner for Control 2 and Potential Film and TV Adaptations

Annapurna to fund 50% of Control 2, with options for film and television rights.
A red-haired woman in a leather jacket and jeans standing in a surreal path lined by tall stone cliffs, several floating humans can be seen ahead of her.

Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna are teaming up to bring the world a lot more Control. Annapurna will fund half of the development for Control 2, which is currently at some stage of development over at Remedy. Furthermore, Annapurna Pictures will have the option to create film, TV, or other audiovisual media for Control and Alan Wake.

The options for films, TV shows, and more are there but nothing concrete was announced just yet. The press release says that "Annapurna will take the lead in expanding Control and Alan Wake into new entertainment mediums, enabling Remedy to focus on the development of Control 2 and other upcoming games." Some of those "other upcoming games" at Remedy include things like the Max Payne remakes and a multiplayer spin-off game based on the Control universe.

The best part of the deal here, at least for Remedy Entertainment, is the fact that Remedy retains the full IP rights for both Control and Alan Wake. In late 2002, Remedy was partnered with 505 Games on Control 2 but Remedy was able to purchase the rights for Control from 505 Games earlier this year.

Hopefully this means Steam releases, too.
