Motion Twin and Evil Empire just released the final content update for Dead Cells, The End is Near. The content is released as part of Update 35 and is free to everyone that owns the game on PC and consoles. The teams say that this concludes "the journey started by The Beheaded in 2017."
Those who haven't yet picked up Dead Cells, you can do so for 50% off through Steam until August 26.
The End is Near adds in new mobs, weapons, and mutations into Dead Cells. The new mobs include: The Sore Loser, Curser, and Doom Bringer. The new weapons include the melee Misericorde and the ranged Anathema. These weapons can apply curse to you but deal significant damage to foes. The three new mutations are: Cursed Flask, Damned Vigor, and Demonic Strength.
If you really want more, there are now also 40 new heads to unlock and equip.
The full list of changes can be read in The End is Near patch notes for Dead Cells. Those playing Dead Cells on mobile devices will soon get Update 34, with Update 35 coming out later this year.
Motion Twin and Evil Empire are moving on to their own projects now that Dead Cells content development has come to an end. Motion Twin is working on Windblown and Evil Empire just released The Rogue Prince of Persia.
About This Game
Dead Cells is a roguelite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle... assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.
Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what's happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island. Immortal but crippled, your last resort is to take over bodies in order to move, explore… and fight.
While you may well be immortal, the corpses you possess are not. Each time your host is destroyed, you will be sent back to the dungeon to find yourself a new one and start again...
Experience a Roguevania, mixing an interconnected world, branching paths and unlockable skills with the constant adrenaline-pumping threat of permadeath. No checkpoints. You either vanquish the final boss in one go or you try again. However, you keep some of your progress for successive runs new paths you’ve unlocked, access to new levels, mutations, abilities and weapons.
Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble make for a visceral and cathartic action game.
