The newly formed independent game studio named emptyvessel just announced their first project, Defect. Defect is being billed as a new multiplayer, squad-based cyber5punk shooter. A Steam page for Defect is also currently live if you wish to Wishlist it.
emptyvessel is a studio made up of members that came from several other development studios. Their backgrounds include roles at Activision, Crystal Dynamics, Disney, id Software, Microsoft, Naughty Dog, and Tripwire Interactive.
Their game, Defect is being built using Unreal Engine 5. It depicts a war between anarchy and authority in the last city of mankind. An authoritarian AI called The System rules the city with inhuman logic. Players will choose from different factions: "The System's own policing force, Rogue Police Elements, or a host of gangs vying for power."
Defect will include both PvP and co-op multiplayer. Teams will compete to achieve objectives such as smuggling guns, assassinating targets, or arresting suspects.
