NC America announces that they are partnering with the independent developer emptyvessel to publish Defect. Defect is emptyvessel's upcoming "close-quarter cyberpunk shooter" that blends first-person shooting with team-based tactical gameplay.
This publishing deal also now gives emptyvessel the opportunity to expand support for its multiplayer gameplay and also develop a new single-player experience for the game. The studio, emptyvessel, is made up of several industry veterans that have worked on franchises such as Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us.
A release date for Defect was not yet shared as part of this announcement. However, a new story-focused teaser trailer was shared today.
DEFECT is set in a dystopian city ruled by a divisive, enigmatic AI known as “THE SYSTEM”. With ruthless gangs and rogue law enforcement vying for supremacy, players can train in single-player mode for a deep offline experience, or team up cooperatively in 4v4v4v4 PvP squads for explosive, close-quarter firefights featuring dynamic multi-objective battles with advanced weapons and tech.
