A quick hit of the latest gaming rumors.

Let's take a quick look at some of the week's biggest rumors, at least the biggest rumors for the week thus far. This new RumorBits includes word that Star Wars Eclipse won't be out until 2026, some new first-person Fortnite screenshots, and a little something about Red Dead Redemption getting a new rating in Korea.

Star Wars Eclipse in 2026

A new rumor from Tom Henderson suggests that the Quantic Dream developed Star Wars title may not be ready until at least 2026. Henderson, citing anonymous sources, hears that even 2026 may be a bit optimistic and that the game could be delayed further. The report says that Quantic Dream has struggled to hire staff in the wake of the myriad of workplace issues at the studio. Issues that include but are not limited to: Sexual harassment, crunch, and general toxicity.

Henderson's sources are the same ones that revealed Netease was going to acquire Quantic Dream six months before it was officially announced. If you need a Star Wars game fix before 2026, there are at least six other Star Wars games in active development at different studios.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is "100% Bigger than the Original"

This rumor comes from Dusk Golem, a supposed insider that seems to know quite a bit about some high-profile horror games from time to time. A screenshot from Discord shared to r/SilentHill shows a couple of remarks from Dusk Golem responding to a question about whether or not the Silent Hill 2 remake will be longer than the original.

Dusk Golem's remark about the remake being "100% bigger than the original" does leave a lot to the imagination there. It is possible they are talking about game length, the amount of Silent Hill you will get to explore, or perhaps some combination thereof.

Dusk Golem also suggests that they may know of a potential release date for the remake but is "waiting and seeing" before throwing any dates out to the public.

Fortnite First-Person Mode Screenshots

Some newly leaked images seem to show the upcoming first-person mode coming soon to Fortnite. A first-person mode has been teased here and there with it supposedly being in development at Epic Games for quite some time now. It is speculated that this first-person mode will be added to Fortnite at some point in the next in-game season.

Red Dead Redemption Rated in Korea

It's 2023 and Red Dead Redemption was just given a new classification rating in Korea. The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea gave this Red Dead Redemption a classification number "CC-NV-230615-001." The "NV" in the number refers to this being a console game. If it was given the "NP" designation it would suggest a PC title. Red Dead Redemption's classification rating does not exclude the existence of a PC version.

The application for classification occurred on June 15, 2023 with an amendment happening on June 27, 2023. What this indicates is really anybody's guess right now. Is it a remake? A Remaster? Is it simply a potential release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S? Is it just Rockstar Games and Take-Two covering their bases should they want to do something in the future? Nobody knows right now.

In July 2022, a report said that remasters for Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption were "shelved" in order to let the teams at Rockstar focus on Grand Theft Auto 6. The decision to shelve these remasters came after the absolute disaster that was the GTA Trilogy remakes.

Horizon Forbidden West Cost $212 Million and The Last of Us Part 2 Cost $220 Million

As part of the ongoing battle between the FTC and Microsoft, Sony may have accidentally revealed the development costs for two major first-party titles. Sony did not adequately redact information in a letter supplied by Sony boss Jim Ryan.

The Verge noticed this and supplied details on the "redacted" numbers that they saw as part of their ongoing announcement thread of Microsoft vs the FTC. They see that Horizon Forbidden West cost Sony $212 million (USD) to develop over the course of five years. 300 employees apparently worked on Forbidden West.

The Last of Us Part 2 cost $220 million to develop with 200 employees. Development on this sequel began in 2014, or right around the time that the original game was released.

Sony Shows Call of Duty is Worth a Lot of Money

More poorly redacted information from Sony sheds light on just how much Call of Duty means to PlayStation. First up, Sony says that 1 million PlayStation owners play nothing but Call of Duty.

Badly redacted FTC filing shows over 1 million PlayStation owners play nothing but Call of Duty.

Further along, Jim Ryan's poorly redacted letter reveals that in just 2021 Call of Duty pulled in $800 million (USD) in revenue for PlayStation just in the United States. Worldwide, that total amount jumps up to, allegedly, $1.5 billion.

Ryan continues to say that Call of Duty players spend $15.9 billion per year, on average, on everything else they buy.

Perfect Dark Reboot Still Several Years Away

A report from IGN says that "little meaningful progress has been made on Perfect Dark since [the] 2020 trailer." This information comes from conversations IGN had with 13 "sources familiar with the game's development."

Several reasons were given for the slow development, including issues with co-development, the pandemic, technological challenges, employees leaving, and unclear direction from management. The partnership with Crystal Dynamics is speeding development up a fair bit but the game is still "in the earliest stages" of development.

Estimates place Perfect Dark's release at about two to three years away.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Art

Some leaks for this brawler appeared online this week, showing what appears to be snippets of the unannounced game's key art visual or cover art. The images were shared via a tweet (seen below) along with some memes or something.

Of note, new characters seem to be Raphael, Jimmy Neutron, Vlad Plasma, and Squidward. Returning characters seen include SpongeBob, Korra, Patrick, Jenny, and Garfield.
