Though there were some hiccups on consoles.

The Early Access release of Blizzard's Diablo 4 kicked off last night and you know what? It went pretty damn smoothly all things considered. Anybody who remembers how bad the Diablo 3 launch went can tell you that it's a night and day difference with Diablo 4's launch. Of course, the real test might still be coming up when Diablo 4 "officially" launches to everyone on June 6, 2023.

PC players were either able to hop in right at release or at worst they encountered a login queue that was only a few minutes long. Console players had a bit of a rougher go of things. There were licensing errors encountered by PlayStation and Xbox users. Some PlayStation users, desperate to get into the game before an official fix was found, found that they could "fix" the licensing issue by either adding a free game to their PlayStation account or purchasing a microtransaction worth a couple of bucks.

Blizzard and their partners at Microsoft and Sony have already done some work to address the licensing issue (more information here). They ask that anybody still experiencing the issue today to share some details with them to hopefully take care of the issue entirely.

They also released a small hotfix update (1.0.2) released earlier today that addresses a few issues. You can see those changes below.

Sorcerer
Class Specialization
Flame Shield Enchantment
  • When Flame Shield is initially equipped into an Enchantment slot, it’s placed on full cooldown.
Rogue
Class Specialization

Inner Sight
  • After Inner Sight’s unlimited Energy expires, there will be a 4 second delay before another enemy becomes marked.
Items
Shout Skill Cooldown Reduction
  • This affix will no longer appear on items.
Miscellaneous
  • Monster health values have been increased in later World Tiers.
I was given a review key for Diablo 4 but it arrived after the early press review period ended. I will have a review for Diablo 4 coming but it may be a bit of time before that goes live as I was only able to start playing last night during the Early Access launch. So far, I'm really enjoying the game but have not yet progressed beyond the story content that was offered in the recent betas.

Prior to the Diablo 4 review, whenever that may come, I will have a review for Amnesia: The Bunker that should go live on Monday, June 5, 2023!
