It's a banner day for Deep Silver and Volition as the first DLC expansion for Saints Row is now available. This paid content is out alongside a huge update for the game that includes free content for everyone along with significant changes to core gameplay mechanics, combat improvements, and bug fixes.
The first of three planned DLC releases for Saints Row is called The Heist & The Hazardous. This paid DLC adds three new story missions that can be played solo or in co-op. There is also a new weapon, new helicopter, rewards, cosmetics, and more. This DLC can be purchased on its own or is included as part of the Expansion Pass for Saints Row.
A quick overview of the free part of today's update can be seen below. Keep in mind that the bulleted list below is just the most general of overviews. The full details on today's update is so big that Volition had to spread it across two separate postings at SaintsRow.com. The first focuses on the new gameplay area, Sunshine Springs, while the second is more focused on what fixes and quality of life adjustments were included today.
July will see the release of the second expansion, Doc Ketchum's Murder Circus. The third and final piece of Expansion Pass content, currently unnamed, will be out in August.
Bosses across Santo Ileso will also be able to access a new part of the city for free starting today. Adventure through the all-new district of Sunshine Springs – inspired by Palm Springs – and check out the suite of new features, improvements, and bug fixes implemented with this update.
