A day many of us have been waiting for is here: FromSoftware finally announced the first expansion for Elden Ring. The rather low-key announcement came via Twitter where the developer merely confirmed that the DLC is currently in development and that it's called Shadow of the Erdtree.

They offered no other details outside of the name and the "yeah, we're working on it" announcement. There is no release date, but we were treated to some new artwork for Shadow of the Erdtree, which you can find below. This news comes mere days after the one-year anniversary of Elden Ring's release and word that the FromSoftware title has sold over 20 million copies.

Shadow of the Erdtree isn't technically the first DLC released for Elden Ring, but it will be the first story-focused content released. The previous DLC was a free update that added in some new PvP colosseums.
