Yesterday, the third chapter of Fortnite Battle Royale came to an end. Today, Chapter 4 launched with yet another major update to the map, a new Battle Pass, new gear, new unlocks, new cosmetics, and everything else.

On the surface, one of the most apparent changes in this new chapter is the move to Unreal Engine 5.1. Epic Games also included some new ways to get around the map that include a dirt bike, rolling yourself in a snowball, and self-launching yourself with a Shockwave Hammer. You can now also hurdle over obstacles when sprinting forward.

One of the biggest game-changers in Chapter 4 are the addition of Reality Augments. The longer you remain in a match, the more Reality Augments you will be given. There are 22 different Reality Augments to start the Chapter off with and each provides some sort of a boost or benefit when collected. For example, the one called Light Fingers lets you reload all Light Ammo weapons faster. One called Aerialist gives you a Glider redeploy for the rest of the match. Another called Supercharged makes it so that your vehicles don't consume any fuel and they have increased health. Players will be able to reroll the random Augments they are given for a chance to get the ones they want.

While some weapons have been removed, a number of new weapons have been added to take their place. These weapons include the Ex-Caliber Rifle, Thunder Shotgun, Maven Auto Shotgun, Red-Eye Assault Rifle, Twin Mag SMG, Tactical Pistol, and the Shockwave Hammer.

In addition, a number of new consumables and special map concepts have been added for this new Chapter.

EX-CALIBER RIFLE
This powerful, semi-automatic rifle fires a ballistic blade at your enemies… that detonates mere moments later.

THUNDER SHOTGUN
A pump-action shotgun that deals high damage and shoots two rounds at a time. Just as thunder tears through the sky, this shotgun tears through skirmishes and shotgun shells.

MAVEN AUTO SHOTGUN
An automatic, fast-firing shotgun with moderate damage and range. A true maven, however, will know how to make the most of it.

RED-EYE ASSAULT RIFLE
An automatic assault rifle with a custom red dot sight for improved accuracy. Made for a focused wielder, this assault rifle has a controlled fire rate.

TWIN MAG SMG
Two are better than one: this automatic, fast-firing SMG has a double-sided magazine for an extra fast reload.

TACTICAL PISTOL
Don’t count this one out. This automatic, powerful sidearm can lay down serious firepower from its small frame.

SHOCKWAVE HAMMER
Not only does this melee weapon deal damage to opponents, but it also launches them far away. You can also use it to launch yourself and teammates.

REPLENISH WITH NEW PROVISIONS
The weapons above aren’t the only new items. In addition to returning healing items, restore yourself with new ones:

SLAP BERRIES
This fruit is so refreshing you won't want to stand still. Eat one for not only Effective Health, but also short-term unlimited Energy regen to stay sprinting longer.

SLAP JUICE
Thanks to the Slap Juice factory at Slappy Shores, there’s Slap Juice! Slap Juice grants more Effective Health than a Slap Berry, and also a longer temporary Energy regen.

NO HEALING ITEMS NEARBY? SEEK SKY JELLIES
If you see these jellyfish nearby, fear not — they want to help you. If you come in contact with these floating creatures, you’ll experience a bounce effect... and have some Effective Health restored!

SHOOT FOR THE SPOILS
Speaking of things in the air, certain points of interest (POIs) at random will be dubbed Hot Spots at the beginning of the match. (Look for the POIs with gold text on your map!) These POIs are filled with flying drones holding high-rarity weapons — shoot down as many drones as you can and revel in your fortune.

CLAIM YOUR TERRITORY
Conquer with your squad. Stay in a POI’s Capture Point long enough and your team’s Banners will be put on display, marking your team’s control of the POI. In a POI your squad’s claimed, Chests and opponents will be marked. Just watch out for anyone who tries to claim it first…
Finally, a new Season or Chapter of Fortnite wouldn't be complete without a new Battle Pass full of cosmetic unlocks. Today's update is no different. Over the next few months, those with the Battle Pass purchased will be able to work towards unlocking some very recognizable faces such as Doom Slayer from 2016's DOOM and the follow-up, DOOM Eternal. In a couple of months, players will get to unlock and use The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia. Both of these iconic characters come with an assortment of additional cosmetics, that include but are not limited to, several different armor colors for Doom Slayer, the Crucible sword, and an emote that lets him play with the little Doomguy dolls action figures. Geralt gets items such as his sword as a pickaxe option and, based on the teaser trailer, will also get a glider based on his horse, Roach.

Epic Games also made several changes to Creative Mode. As far as the Save the World mode is concerned... well... maybe we'll get something in the next update?
