This is all due to the power of the upcoming RTX 4090.
Overwatch 2 RTX 4090

When Overwatch 2 comes out, you will be able to run it at 600 FPS if you want (and can). This is apparently thanks to Nvidia teaming up with Blizzard on Nvidia Reflex support for Overwatch 2, which subsequently allowed the studios to increase the cap. The two companies are taking that slow and pathetic 400 FPS cap from the first Overwatch and cranking it up another 200 FPS.

Nvidia confirmed that framerates of over 460 FPS will be achievable on an RTX 4090 at 1440p resolution. Assuming you have at least $1,600 (USD) to spend on the RTX 4090 when it releases on October 12, you will get to run Overwatch 2 at framerates that most monitors won't even be able to display. Huzzah!

For most players, the real benefit from this Nvidia and Blizzard team-up will come with the addition of Nvidia Reflex in Overwatch 2. This is a technology that can help reduce latency through some GPU and game optimizations in a number of supported titles. In a competitive shooter, Nvidia Reflex is certainly nice to have. The first Overwatch was one of the first competitive shooters to incorporate the initial release of Nvidia Reflex.
