  • New Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Poster Revealed

Too fast for the naked eye.

A new movie poster for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie was revealed today. The poster makes its debut courtesy of IGN. IGN says that the poster should invoke a feeling of nostalgia for fans of the 16-bit Sonic games.

As a fan of those 16-bit Sonic games (shoutout to my Sega Genesis), I can say that yeah, I can see where some nostalgic feelings would come into play here. There's Tails' plane and we see Sonic and Knuckles about to punch each other in the face over a Chaos Emerald. Yep, it sure is a movie based on Sonic, that's for sure.

Allegedly, this sequel will more closely follow that deep lore set forth in the video games as opposed to the original film which was "a road trip film and sci-fi fish out of water comedy that just happened to include the blue hedgehog." Having not seen the first movie yet, I cannot confirm if this is indeed what that movie was like. I hear it's good though and I'll watch it one of these days, I swear.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be out on April 8, 2022 in theaters. It stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as non-sexy Knuckles, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as... humans.

The first film was good and yes it's basically as you describe it, i went into it wanting a Jim Carrey movie as i haven't followed his career since Ace Ventura and that's exactly what i got, so that's how i frame it for people, it's a decent Jim Carrey movie and the rest is harmless :P.
Judging from the trailers i'm really not sold on Idris Elba as Knuckles but whatever.
