The rumor about a free-to-play multiplayer game set in the Tom Clancy multi-verse has become a reality. Ubisoft has officially announced XDefiant, an upcoming F2P, 6 vs 6 multiplayer shooter that features factions from multiple Tom Clancy universes. Ubisoft San Francisco, led by Mark Rubin, is leading the development on this project.

Today's announcement came alongside a new announcement trailer and some hot new details about the game. The trailer features a look at a number of included maps, characters, and special abilities for these characters. Players will also be able to customize their playstyle after selecting from the included factions: Wolves (Ghost Recon), Echelon (Splinter Cell), Outcasts and Cleaners (The Division), and more that are planned to be released after launch.

You will get to customize your loadouts of primary weapons, secondary weapons, attachments, and device. You can customize your loadouts both before matches and prior to spawning. There will also be unique abilities and ultra moves that you can equip on your "Defiant."

XDefiant will also include multiple game modes including Domination and Escort. All of this information seems to line up pretty nicely with the rumors that surfaced in the couple of days prior to this reveal.

XDefiant will be released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, Luna, and Ubisoft Connect. A beta for the game is expected to begin on August 5 for the PC.
