If ever there was a prime example of the Streisand effect, this is it.

Just a couple of weeks ago, former Faze member Frazier "Kay" Khattri was removed from the gaming clan after it was discovered that he and three others were pushing a crypto "pump and dump" cryptocurrency scheme. The scheme was uncovered by various YouTubers that broke the story. Those YouTubers are now getting hit by a cease and desist order to try and stop the news from spreading.

    Yeah... about that.

Kay and three additional Faze members were promoting a crypto coin called "Save the Kids." Allegedly, portions of each sale of the coin would be given to charity. The value of the currency absolutely crashed shortly after it was launched. This left those buyers with a big loss and Kay and his associates rolling in the dough.

One of the YouTubers that exposed Kay and the others is named Coffeezilla. This person exposed the scam that was Save the Kids right out of the gate. Coffeezilla now says that Kay is threatening to take legal action if they do not remove the videos focusing on the crypto scheme. The threat says that the videos exposing the crypto scheme have caused Kay to lose "millions in revenue."

The letter, found on Imgur and embedded below, accuses Coffeezilla of extortion. The legal representation for Kay are demanding that Coffeezilla pull his videos and any statements that they have made on the matter. If Coffeezilla does not, they may be hit with a lawsuit along with other YouTubers that covered this crypto scheme.

Since the start, Kay has tried to play the victim role. A recent video had him begging his viewers not to believe things that they're hearing online. Oh wow, he's already jumped straight to the "fake news" claims. He says that "his team has discovered evidence that a third party had supposedly masterminded this scheme and manipulated several Faze members to do so." He continues on to try shifting the blame to this unnamed person, saying that "this person gained my trust and the trust of my friends while still encouraging us to be the public face of his scheme."

Despite these threats of legal action, Coffeezilla has continued making videos on the subject. The latest of which went up just today in which they talk about the cease and desist order they were sent.

The most amusing part about all of this? I didn't know a damn thing about this until this whole business about a cease and desist order started making headlines. This is a great example of the Streisand effect at work if ever there was.
