On Tuesday, June 17, AMD said that they have begun to investigate into claims that their internal network was compromised. The report comes from Bloomberg, citing another report at The Cyber Express, that says hackers were able to obtain highly sensitive information from AMD's internal network. Everything from details on upcoming products, to customer databases, to employee details may have been stolen in the breach.
A statement made to Bloomberg from an AMD spokesperson say that the company is "working closely with law enforcement officials and a third-party hosting partner to investigate the claim and the significance of the data."
The hack was allegedly carried out by someone going by the name of Intelbroker. This person has been trying to sell the data they stole from AND. They claim to have details on upcoming products, property files, ROMs, firmware, internal communications, and source code. They also claim to have stolen financial records and employee information such as user IDs, names, job roles, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Some examples of the data stolen were shared online by Intelbroker in an effort to validate their claims. Intelbroker has also reportedly been responsible for a number of other hacks, including against the Los Angeles International Airport and Acuity.
